The Difference
We’ve Made

The Pregnancy Center of Toledo has stood as a beacon of hope in our Community for 29 years. In those 29 years, we’ve helped more than 35,000 women dealing with unplanned pregnancies sort through their feelings, and find answers. In 2012 the Center became a medical facility and under the leadership of our Medical Director, Dr. Dale Derick, MD. We have a vibrant full and part-time staff, including a RN/trained sonographer to ensure we provide excellent medical services to our clients. Our licensed Medical Director oversees our medical clinic operations. In the spring of 2013 we trained 3 new sonographers, giving us as team of 6 nurse sonographers to help administer ultrasounds. Our Facility is open to walk-in clients 5 days a week for 38 hours, plus additional hours for evening programing and appointments. More than 50 dedicated volunteers donate more that 5,000 hours of their time a year to help us provide compassion, care and service to each woman that walks through our doors.

Stories for Life
Chirin and her husband, Barjas, came to the Pregnancy Center in March of 2012 for a pregnancy test. When the test revealed a positive result the couple was overjoyed. Chirin, the mother of two boys, was hoping for a girl. When the ultrasound revealed a baby girl, she was elated! The feeling of elation turned to fear when a routine ultrasound showed signs that the precious baby girl could potentially have Down Syndrome. Subsequent testing showed that the baby did in fact have Down Syndrome. Chirin was devastated and recalls it as the hardest day of her life. She felt that the beautiful dream of having her baby girl was slipping away. In a moment of great fear and desperation she wanted to have an abortion. Chirin remembers feeling overwhelmed and wanting to blame everyone and everything in her life. She was unable to eat or sleep and spent most of her time crying. The client advocate explained to Charin that this was still her dream baby girl, but the dream just looked different. As time went on, Chirin started to accept that her daughter would have Down Syndrome.

Through the support of the Pregnancy Center, and her Client Advocate, Chirin decided not to have an abortion She remembers sitting with the ultrasound picture staring at the "tiny beautiful little face," and praying that God would help her accept her daughter. On September 12, 2012 Chirin gave birth to Aya. Chirin says her heart changed when Aya was placed in her arms. While looking in her daughter's sweet eyes, immediately she knew this was the beautiful dream she had hoped for.

Chirin and Barjas want to thank the Pregnancy Center, their Client Advocate, and those who support the Center.
